Will MUR products work on all walls?
MUR products will not work on all surfaces. Smooth surfaces work best. If your wall is rough, bumpy or newly painted, MUR is difficult to apply and may not adhere properly. MUR is not responsible if graphics applied to a bumpy texture do not stick. Wipe your walls down with a dry cloth to remove any dust or debris. Do NOT wash your decal. Additionally, if the paint on the wall was not applied properly, or is old, chipping or flaking, the vinyl may take off the top layer of paint. Before applying, make sure that the paint on the wall and the wall itself is in good condition. MUR is not responsible for any damage related to the use of its products.
I recently painted my walls, how long should I wait before applying a MUR product?
Do not apply MUR to your walls for at least 2 weeks after applying paint, or even 3 if it’s cold, damp, or humid outside. If you apply the decals before the paint is fully cured, the decals may have trouble adhering to the wall or the adhesive may dry to the paint, potentially resulting in damage to paint.
Will MUR products adhere to all paint types?
MUR sticks best to semi-gloss, but will stick to matte and high gloss paints as well.
Will MUR products adhere to textured surfaces?
MUR recommends smooth surfaces. Even lightly textured surfaces such as orange peel texture can prevent the decals from adhering. MUR is not responsible if graphics do not stick to textured surfaces.
What other surfaces can MUR products be applied to?
MUR can be applied to other smooth surfaces such as ceilings, glass, sealed concrete floors, smooth metal, tile, plastic surfaces and finished wood furniture. Keep in mind, the less porous the surface the more effort it will take to remove MUR.
Are there surfaces for which MUR products are NOT recommended?
Don’t apply MUR to strongly textured surfaces like stucco, concrete blocks, or unfinished wood. Not only will MUR not stick but also the rough texture may puncture the decals. MUR will also not adhere to fibrous materials like fabric or canvas. You can apply MUR to paper-based materials but we do not recommend it unless you are interested in a permanent application. MUR is not removable from paper or wallpaper.
Can you put MUR wall patterns in a bathroom?
Yes, just not right after a shower. MUR can take the humidity of a bathroom but the walls need to be completely dry before applying.
Can you clean MUR triangles?
To clean, wipe gently with a DRY cloth only. Do not wash or get the decal wet. The moisture can affect the adhesiveness of our product.
Is MUR easy to remove?
Yes. Simply peel up an edge with your fingernail and slowly pull the decal off the wall. If you’ve applied MUR to a less porous surface like glass, we recommend that you use a hairdryer (set on low heat) to warm the decal; this releases the adhesive and makes it even easier to peel off.
Will MUR leave a sticky film when removed or take off the paint?
No, MUR should not leave any residue on your wall when removed. Since we cannot guarantee the condition of all wall surfaces, we cannot say across the board that some paint flecking will not occur. You may notice paint flecks on the back of the decals when removed and some minor paint touch up may be required.
